eurosai 54 Information on EU State Audit Office of Croatia 1 ANNUAL MEETING OF THE CONTACT COMMITTEE OF EU SAIs Interaction with eu citizens – opening sais On 11 and 12 October 2018, the State Audit Office of Croatia hosted the annual meeting of the supreme audit institutions (SAIs) of the EU. The main discussion addressed the issue of interaction between SAIs and EU citizens. Main topics of the 2018 meeting This year the annual meeting of the EU Contact Committee of the heads of the Supreme Audit Institutions (SAIs) of the EU Member States and the ECA was held in Dubrovnik on 11-12 October 2018 and hosted by the Croatian State Audit Office. Ivan Klesic, Auditor General of Croatia and chair of the 2018 Contact Committee meeting, welcomed the participants for the meeting. The 2018 meeting was organised around four parts. Part I was a seminar discussing the main theme of the 2018 meeting: SAI interaction with EU citizens. For part II, the Heads gathered to exchange at peer level on subjects of common interest, while the EU SAIs’ liaison officers discussed ongoing CC activities and the corresponding follow-ups to be given. Part III focused on decision-taking and reporting. Part IV contained discussions of EU-related audits carried out by members of the Contact Committee. Furthermore, a number of bilateral meetings were organised in parallel or between these meetings. What is the EU Contact Committee? The EU Contact Committee is an autonomous, independent, non-political assembly of the 29 heads of supreme audit institutions of the Member States, together with the ECA. It provides a forum to discuss and address matters of common interest relating to the EU. Within this context, the EU Contact Committee commits itself to fostering dialogue and cooperation in audit and audit-related activities. The meeting was attended by the Heads (or their substitutes) and delegations of SAIs of EU Member States and the ECA, as well as of the SAIs of Candidate Countries (Albania, Montenegro, Serbia, Republic of North Macedonia and Turkey) and SIGMA as active observers.
